Dear All,
I have a few questions about the nature of proceedings of the case. The divorce case has been filed by my husband on grounds of mental cruelty. I want to know the below:
1. Since he is the petitioner and I am the respondent, am I only allowed to respond to his allegations? He has sent me a legal notice detailing reasons for divorce. Am i supposed to raise objections to the allegations he made? If yes, should I have to file another case?
2. Will I have to prove that his allegations are false?
3. Can I make counter allegations? My husband and his family have harassed me for money so can I mention this to the court or will the scope of this case be confined to only the allegation that the petitioner makes?
4. At what time during the course of the case will the charges made by thepetitioner, be proved by the petitioner? Will it be after the mediation process or before the mediation process?
5. At what stage might I get a chance to tell my version? Will it be after the petitioner has proved his allegations?
6. As I am not well versed with the legal process, is it ok for me to speak during the mediation process or not? Who all would be present during this session? Will I have to prove everything that is spoken there?
In the past, in the hope for reconcilation I have taken blame in front of my husband for lot of things I did not do. Will this harm me?
Thanks,
Ambi.

asking account of pre-marital earning. Also expected to be expecting wife to deposit whole salary in the house and take pocket money like a student. If not agreeing then not allowing to continue marriage. What else do you think makesa dowry demand. O(nly a material consideration for marriage.
Further domestic violence act gives complete defnition crime insection 3 which is not restricted to heavy violence only.
