1. Police Act of that State ( Every State has it’s own Police Act that lists the rules and all aspects of law and order to be followed ). You can get this on the internet or walk into the office of the commissioner of police and request for a copy or purchase it from the Law Book Store.
*** Remember that this Act has to be in line with the IPC, CrPC and the Constitutional Frame-work. It cannot have contradictory acts *** Nose cannot sit within the heart. It has to be on the body and not within the body. Similarly, any act of the police book has to be in line with the IPC, CrPC and the Constitutional Frame-work. It cannot have contradictory acts ***
2. Police Manual ( This Manual tells the police how to enforce the rules and law laid down in the Police Act )
3. RTI ( Details on filing of RTI – Right To Information – in any police case related issue )
4. IPC ( Indian Penal Code – All 511 Sections – Small Booklet )
5. CrPC ( Criminal Procedure Code – Small Book ).

Any LAW BOOK store, will have all of these. All at very affordable cost, less than rupees two hundreds upon each of the above. Worth the investment.
Preferably, get both the ENGLISH and LOCAL LANGUAGE versions. Since the police prefer to listen to a law discussed in local language along with some English words used occasionally.
Their psychology is that way. Do not even attempt to change it. It is hundreds of years old. Leave those roots of the police psychology, to exist that way. The roots are very deep and lengthy.
So, now with the above five knowledge material, you have wrapped yourself with clarity and legal safety, similar to wrapping yourself with a thick jerkin in ice-cold weather.
