It can be sent through email, however, whatsapp mode is yet to be recognised.

As per the Surpeme Court Rules, notice must be sent by registered post to respondents. Service of notice through e-mail is not valid service as per rules, the Supreme Court Registrar has said [Hardev Ram Dhaka v Union of India].
