Yes there can be two investigation officers in the same case 1. The FIR is logged in two different police stations.2.special enquiry is set up by the higher authority to ascertain truth on facts investigated by the first investigation officer . 

vijay ji, in my case 'A' was specifically removed as IO and B was made the IO by the order of SP.

But 'A' still made entries in his own CD.

So in one police station in one case at one time can there be 2 IO's.

I also am trying to find some case law on it...

AT the same time 2 IO is not permitted for the same offense. one should be work under the another IO. However under the Indian Evidence Act the case diary of IO appointed by the Authority will be relevant.

The proceeding of the IO removed is vitiated

i say that there cannot be two authors of a case at the same time... I want to clear my doubts and you have supported my thinking but am unable to find any case law on it...

But has two IOs not vitiated the whole case...

Sir,

In of our clients case, IO has deputed SI to investigate the part of a case in a different city investigation as the offence(fabricated 498a case) took place in 2 cities.

Now question is:

1. How many Police diaries will the case file have?
2. The actual IO(CI) has been transferred to other city for diffrent dept as trainer. In this case who would be the IO?, the IO(CI) or deputed IO(SI)
