Power of attorney for 498a compromise in lok adalat

Hi,

In Andhra Pradesh lok adalat courts, does the court accept Power of attorney in 498A compromise cases OR should both the parties appear before the lok adalat court? Please help. Our lawyer said that it’s a criminal case and Power of Attorney won’t work in lok adalat for criminal cases. Is it so?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sridhar

Your lawyer has advised correctly. In Criminal matter there is no concept of Power of Attorney.
