Practicing lawyers on company board

Dear Gentlemen,

I wish to know if a lawyer practicing in Indian Courts can be inducted in a Company's Board as Executive Director in India.

Thanks and regards,

Aravind

Dear ,

An advocate enrolled on bar council can not be in full time employment with any orginisation as per bar council rules, therefore not permissible.

Thanks

Sunil

An Advocate may be a Director or chairman of board with or without ordinary sitting fee, however none of his duties should be of executive nature. An advocate shall not be a managing director of a company. So It is advisable to be non executive director of  a  company.
