Every High Court has prescribed rules on "Retention period of records".  There are some permanent documents that can be protected like expartee decree/judgment/plaint etc.,

If the said documents are available with the concerned Court, an advocate can file CC and obtain the documents by paying prescribed fees.

In some courts, they have provided even documents of 50 years old suit.

You may approach a seasoned lawyer practising in that court  continuously for many years who will be able to guide and fetch you the desired relief.

or if you are from other place and could not contact any advocate, you may file application to SPIO of concerned Court  seeking availability of that document in court record under RTI Act (TN HC rules and regulations under RTI )
