Registering the Court Decree

We have done a court decree for the court case in 2009 but the decree is not yet regestered.
At the time of decree our lawyer said it was Okay To not regester as decree itself is ORDER BY COURT. also charges to register that decree were very much as its settlement of many ancestor property.
Now i started doubting my lawyer that what he was said is right.
Is unregistered Court Decree Is of equal wattage?

A court decree valid in India for any period unless and until such order is challenged as an appeal in an appellate court and the same is reversed by the appellate court.

But for the enforcement of a decree the execution petition must be filed before the expiry of a limitation period and the maximum period of limitation is 12 years.
