In simple language it means that that if you own property situated in a district after 1908, that property needs to be compulsorily registered. It could be:

  • a house gifted to you by your property
  • agreement to sell (your) property
  • a lease if extended by you with your landlord on yearly basis

In simple language SEC 17 of Indian Registration Act lays down the descripttion of document s related to proerty regostration of which is compulsory. Any document which creartes, limits, or end any right in the property is required to be registered compulsorily with the rsub registrar of competent jurisdiction. The agreement to ssale creates an interest in the property hence it rrequires compulsory registration.
