Seeking compensation from agoda.com for booking cancellation

We had booked hotel from agoda.com in Tirupati for 2 days. As per the policy of the booking for the hotel, it clearly said that the payment had to be made at the property during check -in. As per the policy and condition I did not have to make any payments before or advance of check-in. I needed to make the payment only during check-in and only at the property

But the hotel owner cancelled the room even before check-in and without any prior notice or intimation over phone or email. Even though we went to the property for check-in on the same day for what it was reserved to checkin and were ready to pay the amount, the manager told us that the room was already sold as we did not make the online payment days before check-in. and he was demanding more money for another room.

I contacted agoda.com through phone and email to get the compensation as we had to search another room and had to pay extra, but agoda.com is not ready to help us here.

Please let us know how can we approach this futher to get the compensation from agoda.com or the hotel? We have all the whatsapp screen shot and video of the same.

This will come under unfair trade practice under the consumer protection act.

You issue a legal notice to the website demanding explanation and compensation, failing to respond you may file a complaint under the act before consumer disputes redressal commission in your jurisdiction.

Cancellation of booking against the policy of Hotel  amounts not only their unfair trade practice but also deficiency in services for that you can claim compensation towards mental and physical agony caused to you by filing complaint before District consumer Commission having jurisdiction.

Hello Hemanth Kumar,

1. Send a legal notice to Agoda and the hotel, demanding compensation for the additional expenses and inconvenience caused.

2. Later if no response from them you can file a complaint against Agoda and the hotel in the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
