Stamp duty

Dear Sir/Madam we had purchased a property area 2cottah 11chattak fully tenanted in the year of 2006 and registered in the office of the Registrar of Assurances in Kolkata West Bengal(ARA 2).The deed of conveyance for sale was made a value of Rs.500000(Five lakhs) and at time of registry the stamp was paid only Rs.30000(Thirty thousand) and until the balance stamp duty is still unpaid. I want to know that the sale deed is still valid and is there any time limits because it will take 4 to 5 more years to pay the outstanding stamp duty

Use the citizens' right to information and seek such information through a friend or relative from the dept., itself under RTI Act..  Follow the rules and regulations applicable to your state in format of application and payment of fees.

Information solicited

1. Please provide me a certified copy of laid down norm /circulars/orders/notifications on the validity of sale deed when entire stamp duty was not paid on the date of execution and if stamp duty can be paid at a later date with such penal fee after 5 to 6 years. (Time frame for making sale deed legally  proper by paying stamp duty with such penal fee)

(There is a procedure for regularization of such deeds by making penal charges in addition to stamp duty.   Search in google for clear cut directives applicable to your state with key words "Validity of deed in case of improper stamped documents)
