Tenant rights

Sir, I have been staying as a tenant in pugree system residence since 1973 in thane maharashtra. I have paid all the rent and other taxes on regular basis. Recently My landlord sold the property to a builder without our consent.

Recently we got letter from municipal corporation that the building in which we are staying is not suitable to stay. Our owner did not allow us to maintain the building for many years, and now having sold the same, we are in deep trouble.

Pls advise will our tenancy remain in case the building collapses?. What should we do? All the lawyers in thane have been managed by the builder and no one is ready to take our case.

We are total 24 tenants residing with 15 in building and 9 in chawl.

request your kind advise on priroity as we do not have any place to stay.

regards

Once the building collapsed( by Gods act), the tenancy is also collapsed. if agreement is made prior to demolish of building then u have right

If the premises are unfit for living.  the tenants could have asked the landlord to repair the premises and the take possession of the premises after the same have been repaired. The landlord by law had to give the premises back to the tenant. If he did not, the tenant had legal remedies available to him.
