What are the consequences of false information on affidavit

Dear All One my friend is in Police holding the Inspector Rank. His son is studying in B.Tech in Private Engineering college. They belong to ST category.

His son wanted to avail the Scholarship of Social welfare department, which is available only those students whose family income is maximum 40000/  ( Forty Thousand) annually.

Just in order to recieve that Scholarship, that boy, get a affidavit in the name of his father stating that none of he / his wife is class I & II officer,  their family annual income is only 40000/ ( forty thousand).

I know them personally. they are quite prosperous family having good income and high standard living . They give all false information in Court Affidavit. While his son deposite more than 1lakh per year as fee in institute.

although I had suggested them for not to give false affidavit . I don't have much knowledge about affidavit.

Members are requested to tell me ..

1. what are the probable consequences of giving false information deliberately on affidavit ?

2. What are the compulsory rules regarding Affidavit?

3. What sort of precautions we must take filing depositing Affidavit?

Thanks and regards

If any one files any wrong information in his affidavit, criminal complaint can be lodged against him.

Only precaution for preparation of affidavit is that to state true facts and none else.
