 Yes true

I see that people most often over-react on this topic. They shud understand that when we say that it should be legalised we do not mean to force girls into into it .

Yes no woman will enter into this happily , bt then do u know how is their family condition .They have to ultimately take it as the last resort .

Either ask the government to provide these women with basic needs or U personally take care of them  or let legalize prostitution .

Atleast if it is leg alised then the government can make rules n act to control it and it will help a lot,  in abolishing girl trafficking .

All i can say is that its a sensitive issue and needs to be dealt practically not emotionally.

Prodyut Banerjee (Advocate (Corporate Lawyer))     27 January 2010

I fully agree with Mr. Nikhil.

India becoming a hub of child prostitution: SC

PTI, 29 January 2010, 05:39pm IST

NEW DELHI: India is "becoming a hub" for largescale child prostitution rackets, the Supreme Court said on Friday and suggested the setting up of

a special investigating agency to tackle the menace.

A bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and A K Patnaik asked Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam to examine the idea of setting up a special investigating agency to combat child prostitution rackets and assured that courts would deny bail to those who engage children in commercial s*x.

"It's happening because of abject poverty in the country. This is also because of the very high and largescale unemployment. All our cultural ethos are going down the drain. India is becoming a hub of such activities," the apex court said while dealing with a PIL filed by an NGO Bachapan Bachao Andolan.

The apex court also wanted to know why government is not invoking section 376 IPC (rape) against those exploiting the children in such prostitution rackets.

"Majority of s*x workers are children. Why don't you register 376(IPC) against them? If you do it in 10 cases, they will fall like a pack of cards. Courts will also not grant bail to them. Unfortunately, we are putting such s*x workers to a lot of problem forcing them to face criminal prosecution," the apex court said.

s*xworkers deserve sympathy and assistance from society  but they should remain out the

civilized society, these workers earn easy money exploiting one basic human proclivity of enjoyment. it may not be harmful morally or healthwise to her customer but it is illegal only as the money earned is  easy . other wise the drug peddling should also be legalised to some extent and petty theft and other many offeneces should alsoto be legalised .

South Africa hinted about 40 thousand new prostitutes for upcoming World Cup 2010. What about how many new prostitutes expected for Common World Game 2010 at New Delhi in October? Or India do not have this problem?

40 000 new prostitutes for Cup

Pretoria - About 40 000 women are expected to arrive in South Africa ahead of the FIFA World Cup to work as prostitutes, the Central Drug Authority said on Thursday.

CDA deputy chair David Bayever said: “Forty thousand new prostitutes. As if we do not have enough people of our own, we have to import them to ensure our visitors are entertained. "

Bayever said the agency had been warned by the Durban municipality of the possibility of huge inflows.

Many of the women were likely to be recruited from eastern Europe.

He also warned that the extension of school holidays during the World Cup would put children at risk of being lured into s*x work.

"Our youth are going to be on holiday. They are going to be targeted to become prostitutes. "

The CDA is a statutory body that provides advice to the social development department on drug and substance abuse.

Bayever said substance and drug abuse were intertwined with prostitution. Drugs and alcohol were sometimes used to keep people in s*x work.

"There's a correlation between drugs and human trafficking, " he said.

Trafficking

UN Office on Drugs and Crime national project co-ordinator for trafficking Johan Kruger concurred there was a connection between s*x work and substance abuse.
He however refrained from endorsing the estimate of 40 000 women entering the country.

"I'm not sure where that comes from."

During the World Cup in Germany in 2006, many had expected human trafficking to increase.

"It actually decreased because of the preparation of law enforcement, " said Kruger.

He cautioned against too much focus on the World Cup as drugs and human trafficking had been present in South Africa before the event and would continue long after the tourists had left.

"After 2010, illicit organised crime will continue."

However, South Africa would face an uphill battle in combating trafficking of both drugs and people. Tackling the problem required co-operation on an international level.

"It's very difficult to combat this crime if is only addressed by one country.
