Bar Council

Bar council has notified an entrance examination for studets coming out from the law schools from 2009-10 onwards and first such examination will be held in december 2010/.

It is sad that some Universities lke Mumbai University have not declared their law results. These  student can not  apply for the registration as an advocate  and obviouslt can not appear in the entrance exam. It means it will result in loss of one year of their career.

If  one can not practice as an advocate without the entrance exam,  why  insist on prior registration as an advocate. What is an advocate who can not parctice.?

The Bar council should have made it applicable form 2010-11 onwards and this should be made criterion  for registration as an advocate . that is No one will be admitted as an advocate unless he has passed the LLB exam AND Entrance Exam.

I  realise that this exam has been retrospectively made  appplicable to all those who have chosen law as a career in the present scheme of things when there was no entrance exam.
