extension of window grill in a cooperative housing society .ltd

dear learned advocates 


in our cooperative housing society which has a 10 floor building, our chairman extended an external window grill of his flat and while performing the work, the welding spots were falling down and burnt the clothes of the ground floor flat owner.


kindly advise legal views on this incident.

The chairman is also expected to be a law abiding member of the society hence he can be held liable for this unjustified action and you can claim compensation for the loss you suffered.

Besides if the extension is violating the bylaws of the society, a complaint can be raised against him with the concerned authorities or the local civic body too.

Yes.  The owner of the flat can complain against the Chairman of the society for abiding by the rules of the society to the Registrar of Societies by a registered post.
