Help needed in getting post-mortem/fir information

HI,

After the death of a member of a family, a FIR complaint was lodged and post-morted ordered.

However, on enquiring with the hospital where the post-mortem was conducted, we have been only given the 1st page of the report. The hospital is unwilling to provide us the rest of the report.

We dont know the status of the FIR, as the family member who filed the FIR has turned un-cooperative.The police state that they will only inform him, but he is not ready to help the family in this matter.

Hence due to an incomplete post-mortem report and also an FIR which we dont know if its still open or closed, our family is in deep distress.

Please could anyone guide as to what we can do in this matter?

I have photocopies of the FIR (which has the FIR number), and also the incomplete post-mortem report.I will be able to scan and send them across

I am happy to avail the services of any lawyer who could help in this matter ( I am from Chennai, but currently live abroad)

Regards
V

When FIR is lodged it is send to concerned court within 24 hours. You may get certified copy of FIR from court within whose jurisdiction FIR was lodged.

For post mortem report find out your state's laws. In U.P and Uttaranchal one may get such copy by depositing Rs 40 through treasury chalan.

Other wise it is a public document you can ask under RTI from Hospital.
