Legality of father's property and mother's mother property

Dear Sirs and Experts,

We have an issue with regards to the father's property and mother's mother property. My father was died in 1995. We had an agreement in 2002 on Rs.100 stamp paper between all of our 9 children. (5 bros and 4 sisters) which is not registered.

Could you please tell me the validity of agreement which is not registered and legal hereditary for the property. Please let me know,if you need further details.

Thanks and Regards,

Diwakar Saribala.

Dear Diwakar,

If the property is the self acquired property of your father and on his passing away intestate( without will), his property will devolve upon all his legal heirs( children). The same condition applies to your grand mother's property also.

A family arrangement need not be registered.
