notice period served by employer.

My appointment letter clearly states that during the probation period any party can terminate the agreement by giving 30 days notice or payment in lieu thereof. Due to certain reasons, I am being asked to resign and the company is giving me just 7 days notice whereas I am asking for 30 days as mentioned in my appointment letter. Can the company reduce the notice period at its discretion? Please advise.

Sir,

I have not been terminated. The company wants me to resign since its not happy with my performance. I am ok with that and I have agreed to the same but I said I need a notice period of 30 days as mentioned in my appointment letter but the company says it will serve notice of 7 - 10 days only. Is this possible?
