Paralegal is  well requiered in almost every legal department. It is just like a documentaion backup , or clerk in office or courts. You don need to qualify any exam just even having expeirnece alone with SSC pass can be a good paralegal even.

Legal offices and public bodies also have many paralegals in support activities although they do not yet use the correct name of the profession.

However, to be precise with your query, Paralegals do not exist in India.

Though informally, everyone who starts out at a law firm or under a lawyer, starts as a para legal. They just draft stuff, research on cases and such stuff.

Paralegal is defined as a person who is qualified through education, training or work experience to perform substantive legal work.

This requires knowledge of legal concepts and are not exclusively performed by a lawyer.
