MARRIAGE WAS PERFORMED THREE YEARS BACK AT VARANASI. IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEEK REGISTERATION AT NAGPUR?

BRIDE'S FATHER CURRENTLY RESIDES AT NAGPUR.

It would be better for you to register your marriage in Varanasi under Hindu Marriage Act,consult wiht a Marriage officer.

Dear Aniruddha,

From your query it is presumed that the social marriage between you and your wife has been performed three years back and now you want to register your marriage under Special Marriage Act, 1954. This marriage will be registered between you and your wife under Section:15 of the Special Marriage Act, 1954 and it is immaterial whether the bride's father resides at the place of application or not. You should apply for registration of your marriage at the Office of the Marriage Officer where you currently reside.

I agree with the views of Mr.Sasankajyoti Sharma.

Was your marriage performed under Hindu Laws, customs and traditions? If yes, get your marriage registered at your place of residence with evidence under Section 8 of The Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
