Society is not allowing me to inspect the documents / what are my legal options ?

Dear all eminent lawyers ,

My case history brief :-

The Society was overbilling me. I filed a case u/s 91 of MCS at .cooperative court Mumbai. The matter is subjudice .

I asked for some documents from the office bearers of the society .

They refused to give it to me with the excuse that defaulters cannot inspect the documents of the society .

Now my queries

1 ) Is this true ? Is the stand of the society in accordance with the law ?

2 ) What are the other legal options for me to inspect the documents of the society .

Hope to see a lot of responses & many thanks in advance for the same .

Regards ,

Veerendra Darakh

1. The society cannot deny to produce the requested documents to be shown to member.

2. You have already approached court and filed a petition summoning the society to produce the documents, you can proceed accordingly

Even if you are stated to be and declared "defaulter" you have a right to inspect society records. Approach concerned Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
