My son is studying in a private engg college affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. Due to major leg injury, he could not attend the classes for more than 3 weeks due to multi fracture at foot. We have produced medical certificate from the hospital and submitted to the HOD along with the leave application. Since 3rd semester exams was started, with very much difficult we have taken him to write the exams in Nov'10 by literally carrying him to the exam hall and after the exams, the doctors advised him to take complete rest due to foot injury. This was well informed to the then Principal. Meantime the Principal was changed and teh new principal without knowing the fact, not allowing my son to write the 4th semetser exams stating that lack of attendance. When we have contacted Anna univeristy, we were informed that minium requirement of attendance rqeuired is 60-65% thenonly the MC will be considered . My son's attendance statement producted to theuniveristy states that he has only 57%. The hall ticket was aldaredy issued by the Anna Univeristy but the Principal refused to issue the hall ticket . My son name is there in the list of students appearing for the exams for the 4th semester, biut not allowed hiom to write the exams. When we asked about the attendance statement, the Prinicpal and the Vice prinicipal are not showing the same. With very much difficulty , when we told them we are going to approach the court for justiofication, then olny they gave the hall ticket on 2nd May'11 striking that he can not allow to write the 4th semetser, but allowed him to write the arrear papers. This was done by teh principal. When we approached the Chairman of college on many times, he said only Principal is responsible but when we have approached the Principal, he said, the chairman is overall responsible. we don not know what to do, We have been harrassed like this for more than one month by not allowing my son to write the exams and was told that he has to redo the exams. that means he has to wait for another 6 months and rejoin in the college as a redo student and write theexams. .
He has alreday wrote his 4th semester practical exams.
I need clarifications in this regard, whether a student who already allowed to write the practical exams be not allowed to write the theory paper stating that he is lacking shortage of attendance. Can I go to court to get stay .
I need an very very urgent reply for thsi mail. Another six papers are balance to write . The next exam starts on 18th May'11.
