Ancestors Property

Hi Respected Lawyers,

My Family has a property inherited from centuries and there is no Registration documents as it is constructed in 1890. The property is behind a Temple. My grand parents haven't used that house as per the Hindu tradition that the Temple's Monumental Tower (GOPURAM) shadow falls on that building. My Father and his brothers has keys and they made a partition agreement in 2010 and since then they are paying property and water tax without any default.

Now we demolished that old building due to its weekness and trying to sell it.

Now the residents nearby to the temple saying that the Building belongs to the Temple and they made a complaint against us to the State Endowment department. The concerned temple sent a notice to us. we have asked the temple authority to check their property register and the temple authority confirmed us that the said property is not enlisted with the temple. They have also got the latest Encumbrance Certificate too. In that My family name is there. But at the same time they are asking for the property documents which we do not have.

So please guide me how to proceed further in this case with the Temple authority and residents nearby. Thanks in anticipation.
