Bringing jewellry into india without custom declaration

Hello.

I am writing in to seek advise on the following situation.

  • If a person brings Jewellry into india from overseas and doesnt declare to customs.
  • Puts up aligation (FIR) on inlaws & husband for taking that Jewellry.
  • Does not give ANY deatils about the Jewellary to police( Value & Quanity) of Items brought

Can I know IF any provision & under what section is available in law to file a complaint againt this person for evading custom duties.

Please advise.

Thanks

1. Upto 40 grams gold jewellry, worn on person, can be brought in India, without any declaration or paying customs duty on such gold jewellry.

2. IF you have documentary evidence, ONLY then you can make written complaint to Customs dept., about such smuggling, for their investigation & prosecution.  Provide them passport details and in-travel dates.

Now that is not going to benefit you in any way,the point is you are facing allegations and  fFIR's you want to shift the burden and i think it is better you fight at the right front instead of  pleasing your whims.
