BCI to extend date of registration for AIBE

The last date of registration for the AIBE was October 31, 2010 and the BCI has

received over 20,000 applications as on that date. The BCI has also received many

requests from State Bar Councils (“SBCs”), law schools and law students to extend

the date of registration for the AIBE till November 15, 2010 so as to allow law

students/newly enrolled advocates further time to enrol and apply for the AIBE.

Keeping in mind the above, and the commitment of the BCI to build a strong AIBE,

which is accessible and equips law graduates and newly enrolled advocates across

the country, the BCI has decided to extend the registration period for the AIBE till

November 15, 2010. The online registration mechanism etc., are being reactivated

for the purposes of the same. All applications received by the BCI by close of

business on November 15, 2010 will be accepted for registration for the AIBE.

However, please note the date of conducting the AIBE continues to be December 5,

2010 and there is no change in the same.

Law students are also informed that all applications for the AIBE must be sent to the

following address of the BCI “The Bar Council of India, 21, Rouse Avenue,

Institutional Area, New Delhi – 110001”.

SBCs across India are being informed of the above and requested to speed up

enrolment to facilitate all law students to enrol and apply for the AIBE.

The BCI also requests all fresh law graduates and newly enrolled advocates to

routinely check the BCI website (www.barcouncilofindia.org) for updates and news

on the AIBE, and to approach the BCI with any queries or clarifications required.

We look forward to your continued co-operation.

Warm regards,

Gopal Subramaniam

Chairman

Nothing has been officially declared in the Bar Council of India's Website/...........

Yes...that is why more confusions are there relating to AIBE....BCI is not officially declaring anything....we r getting info through various law sites...

Aniket Giri (ADVOCATE)     29 November 2010

The West Bengal State Bar Council didnt officially declared anything, but informed that the exam will be taking place on 06th march, 2010. And the Secretary unofficially told that we can move in the court, but advised not to sign till further notification.

The State Bar Council of Assam, Nagaland, Tripura etc. has not declared anything officially....they were opposing the AIBE from the beginning....they have passed a resolution against the AIBE & sent it to BCI...according to one member of the said bar council there is no such bar in signing vakalatnama as there is no such official direction till date 4m the BCI to that effect...moreover according to Advocates Act we become advocates & can practice when we get the enrollment certificate..
