I have been a resident of a Society on a leave License basis since Dec 2002.
The Land Lord has been raising rents intermittently. He stays in Dubai.
In 2009 I requested the land lord that he should not raise the rent any further as I would not be able to pay.
He sent me a mail stating that there would be no more increase in rent and that I could stay as long as I wished andlook after the flat.
This year the term expired on 31st March and my Land lord sent me a notice asking me to vaccate the flat.
My elder daughter was appearing for her Xth exam and therefore I requested him to extend my term till the 31stJuly.
He sent me a mail stating that he would extend the period till 31st July.
He sent a mail to his power of Attorney holder asking him to extend the period till 31st March on a Rent of 14,000/-per month.
The Power Of Attorney Holder requested me sign the areement keeping the Rent portion blank and suggeated me that I should speak to the Land Lord and before registering the Agreement,hr wolud fill the applicable rent.
I signed the agreement but requested him to give me the Xerox copy of the agreement signed ,which had the Rent portion blank.
My question is that can the Land Lord raise the rent when he talks of the period being extended.
The term extension to my knowledge would mean extension of the old agreement.
Secondly,My problem is that my second daughter has gone to the VIIth Std and changing her school is very difficult I find as they ask for the Ration Card.
My Ration Card and Passport are highlighting the current address and taking a new apartment, the owner may not allow me to add his address on The Ration Card.
I have letter stating that I have been residing in the Society since Dec 2002.
Is there any way by which I can continue residing here till my second daughter finishes off her Xth exams.
Await to hear suggestions.
