Regarding - government employee- contesting in elections

Respected Sir, I would like to draw the following few lines for your kind consideration, Sir My father works as a Teacher in High School he had a experience of 33 years, his D.O.B:1/6/1962 still he have 6 more years for retirement and also had been awarded as Best Teacher of KURNOOL district, now his Teachers union members asking him to contest in Teachers MLC elections by giving voluntary retirement if he gives is it possible to rejoin if he fails to win the elections, I had verified some articles but no clarity is their please if you have some free time suggest me regarding this for the act of your kindness I'm very much grateful to you sir.
