Rented Property

Hi All,

I have a query about a rented house which my family is staying in for the past 77 years. It was leased to my grand-father. I am 36 years of age and staying in the same house. The rent to this property was stopped as the owner died in 1987 and did not have any legal heir as they were a childless couple. Though we get the property tax from Pune Cantonment Board in the name of the expired owner. Which we pay along with 4 other tenants in the property (there are 5 row houses belong to the same owner).

My questions are:

1. What should we do with the rent ... do we need to deposit it in Court ?

2. Do we become the owner of the property or can anybody claim the property?

3. How to find the current owner of the property?

Please help with your suggestions.

Thanks & Regards,
Rizwan.M.Qureishi
