Sir,
My brother was found dead in suspicous manner on 16 of may at rudrapur uttrakhand. I filed FIR on 18 of may but till now police is not doing any investigation from its side. I myself found many clues which showed that my brother's wife and father in law is guilty. I have filed 306 case.
Can you please suggest me what should be the corrective steps to b taken and also tell me is there any fixed number of days between filing of FIR and chargesheet filing??

Against the shoddy investigation done by the Police you can lodge complaint with higher officials.
However the most suitable in such situations is to file writ petition in high court agaisnt police inaction.

I tried connecting with higher officials like SSP of the city and City CO. They all seems uninterested and just ring up the IO of the case and the IO takes it casually. Problem lies that we are the resident of jharkhand and the case is of uttrakhand as the incident place is that. We are not able to travel frequently to uttrakhand so less important is given to us.
I just have 2 quires:-
* can we move into the court before 60 days of FIR??
* Is it necessary for the police to arrest the accused before filing the chargesheet? This is said by police that it is necessary.
