Dear Ld. Members,
I would like to amend/rectify a settlement deed which has been registered.
Is it necessary to revoke the settlement deed in the first instance and then make a fresh one or a rectification can be done straightaway. Please give your valuable advise. Also give me a sample deed for revocation of settlement deed

If you only want to make some corrections/ amendments you may execute a rectification deed. If you want to add some clauses, you may execute a supplement deed. If you want to change the whole document, then cancel it and execute a fresh one, perpahs in favour of a different person.
A word of caution. If the deed is termed as gift ( which some people dO) then you cannot cancel it.

There is no need of revocation of already registered deed. You can make/register supplimentary deed mentioning therein as in continuation of earlier deed. Mention all new terms or amendments in the earlier as mutually agreed and get it registered.

If you wants to make some minor corrections, or you want to add some clauses, you may execute a supplement deed then there is no need of revocation of already registered deed. If you want to change the whole document, then you have to revoke it and execute a fresh deed.
