Cctv survillance cameras

(Querist) 28 October 2013 This query is : Resolved
My opposite neigbhour has installed 5 CCTV camera's on his house premise and one of the camera points straight into my house. First of all we are not in good terms & I need to know if it is legal for my neighbour to direct his CCTV camera striaght to my home. I do understand in terms of security on his property it is rightful, but overall one of the camera points striaght to my main door. Can anyone help me on this topic?

Nowa days we are forced to close the door through out the day & yesterday, I could see him adjusting the camera position. Again his justification will be on the street view. If I lodge police complaint on what basis should I file?

Does the above complaint filing files under privacy act?

we dont have any stringent laws on privacy in india . send a letter to him that you have deliberately installed CCTV cameras facing your door . it infringes on your privacy .
request him to take remedial action within period of 7 days of receipt of your letter

if no action taken file police complaint against your neighbour .

Serve a legal notice through your lawyer and then file a civil suit instead of a criminal action.

If you file a police complaint, they may investigate and during the investigation, they can look into the cc tv footage to conclude his intentions.
