no.. power of attorney is not. the lessee or licensee are responsible for all such acts and ommissions done by them which amounts to criminal activity.

Mr Anonymous:

The situation has changed in view of the security threat prevailing in the country. Before leasing out the property it is necessary to verify the antecedants of the lessee, lest you may have to face problems in the future, but however, going by your query it is clear that you are only a GPA holder for the specific purpose of signing the agreement, hence you will not have any problem.

But as power of attorney you are supposed to take steps, and if you connive at the faults of the tenant, you are committing negligence in your duty as agent.
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 18 December 2009
He is also equally responsible for the consequences.
