we are a 17 yr old business setup dealing in cctv and automation. we shall soon be selling spy cameras like pen / watch / lighter camera.....we are wondering if it is a crime selling these things.
as we are getting all the equipment from mumbai and wont be giving any gurantee / warantee to the clients and we shall not be giving a bill either.
but our setup will carry a notice stating that any illegal use of the equipment is not our concern and if we are approached by the police we shall support the police by all we can do.
pls advice as to is this ok or do we have to do something more.

Selling of such gadgets is not a crime. Abuse of them alone would invite punishments. You incorporate a condition that the purchaser would alone be responsible for the abuse of the gadgets.

It would be adviseable to approach the Commissioner of Police and ascertain whether there are any restrictions.

A notice issued would serve the purpose and also as our expert states just enquire whether such instruments require any separate licenses for selling the same.

Whatever notice you may give if the equipments are used for illegal activities you are also liable.

I do not at all agree with the views of JSKN. There are shops licenced to sell Arms and Ammunition to anybody who has a licence to purchase. If I sell such arms and the purchaser commits some illegal activity, I will not at all be liable, unless I am involved in the crime.

Yes for arguments sake it may look all right but when a goldsmith buys gold from a person he does not know that it is stolen but when the person selling gold wan involved in theft and caught the goldsmith is not only arrested but the gold purchased by him is also seized.

I stop here, when I find that you are not reasonable in your analysis and arguments.
