Dear Sir,
Ours is an Educational Institution, run by registered Society, started from June, 2011.
As we are new for the labour laws we would like to know about the rules about the PF contribution.
More on saying, why the basic should be taken to Rs.6500/- to calculate the Employee's PF Contirbution, etc. and so on.
Regards,

Dear Ashish,
I wonder, who guided you that the basic should be taken as Rs.6500 in all cases for contribution to PF? It is for the new employees, who has more than the basic of Rs.6500, but want to contribute. But in that case an employee has to seek the consent of the employer to contribute to PF, if his basic exceeds 6500/-.
The contribution which shall be paid by the employer to the Fund shall be ten percent of the basic wages, dearness allowance and retaining allowance, if any, for the time being payable to each of the employees whether employed by him directly or by or through a contractor.
In any new organization, teething problems may arise in plenty where even interpretation of service laws may pose several challenges on day-to-day basis.
So, in the interests of the society and the school, both, it would be better if some HR consultant/specialist is hired for some time to provide the scociety or the school advice on locally or online.

Dear friend,
The EPF law is a central law and no separate state rules have been formulated for it's implementation.
As regards contributions to be made in respect of employees drawing more than Rs. 6500/- p.m., there is provision in the law to contribute amounts in excess of the monthly ceiling of Rs. 780/- p.m.with the consentof the employer and for that you can consult the PRO sitting in the local EPF office for guidance.
