Proprty in my name|can share be taken by brother

(Querist) 19 August 2016 This query is : Resolved
Hi Sir,
I have made a property with my own money and my younger brother was also living with me who was also contributing to my house expenses.
Now younger brother and his children are claiming share in property which is in my name.
Is the claim legally valid?
Ms.Usha Kapoor (Expert) 19 August 2016
Dear Client,

Since it is your self acquired property normally you alone can do anything with the property. But since your brother who is your own contributed expenses of the amount give him a reasonable share in the property to the extent of his contribution to your house expenditure.

Does not seem to be a real problem.

If incorrect, where your brother and his children have filed their claim case?
adv.bharat @ PUNE (Expert) 19 August 2016
Since it is your self acquired property normally you alone can do anything with the property.

Your brother has no claim if the self acquired property is in your name.

Due to Contribution towards household/kitchen/electrical expenses etc...do not confer ownership.
