Dear sir, I am customer of co.op. society which is selling goods for profit. I am not shareholder of this .can I ask some financial information from this society, as co.op. sector is funded by state government through taxpayer citizens.

Yes. but first request the officials and if they refuse to issue information, then proceed on RTI.

The Supreme Court has exempted the Cooperative Societies from the applicability of RTI Act.
According to the latest orders of the court the society is bound to answer only relating to the utilisation of the funds received from the government

Ngo s, political workers, media people , social workers must challenge the supreme court order and file revision . CO. OP SOCIETY IS REGISTERED WITH REGISTERED WITH STATE GOVERNMENT /CENTRAL GOVERNMENT. Indian tax payer citizens gave grants loans equity funding more than Rs. 10000 crores. As per my knowledge this is association of persons, committed to growth of citizens of nation . can borrow from any indian citizen. co. op societies in maharashtra got deposits and winded up because of frauds above Rs. 6000 crores. DUPED THE DEPOSITERS.
