can women file 498a against her in-laws if they are not living with her?

She can give a complaint however the police officer incharge will decide under what section FIR has to be filed.

The burden of proving the details of complaint will be on the complainant though.

Kindly approach a good advocate who can a good defence in your favour.

now it because common levelling baseless allegations against all in 498A cases for all problems in matrimonial issues
Remedy
i) anticipatory - before reg of FIR or after reg of FIR
ii) quashing FIR itself in High Court

she sure can complaint but it will be difficult to prove for her. don't apply for anticipatory bail before you receive 498a notice
