Agreement with retrospective effect

can an agreement be made in current date with retrospective date as the effective date?

that is can i make an agreement today - 1/3/12 by writing in the opening line as " This agreement made on 1/3/2012" and in  the clause of validity can I mention that " this agreement shall come in to effect from 1/10/2011 and valid up to 31/03/2013" ?

is it valid in law, if both the parties agree to this ?

pl. revert at the earliest.

Yes the agreement is purely valid if the Effective date of the agreement is backdated or retrospective. Such agreements does not suffer from any impediment.

Yes. You can add a clause in the agreement that the agreement deemed to have commenced from the retrospective effect.
