Amendments in divorce law

Dear Experts,

Kindly let me know about the amendments in Divorce Law passed by the Cabinate for MCD.

As per my knowledge the government has made some crucial amendments to divorce laws, giving women half a share in the husband’s residential property irrespective of whether it was acquired before or during the marriage. The amendment was cleared by the Union Cabinet on Thursday. The wife’s share in other assets owned by her husband — movable and immoveable property has been left to the discretion of the judge.

My questions are:

1) Is this above statement true?

2) When the amendments will come in to action and applicable for the cases filed after which date?

3) Does the pending cases of MCD will affect with this amendments in law?

4) Don't you think these provisions in Divorce Law could be misused?

5) Is there any organisation in India fighting for Men's rights? Any Mens activists?

6) As per amendments, cooling period of six months will be waived off by the Judge. Does it means in the first hearing itself divorce decree will be passed?

Regards,

The bill is not yet passed by the parliament so as to become a law. Nobody can rule out more changes in the bill before it is passed. We cannot say when the amendment will be made.  For information about  organisations in India fighting for Men's rights, search google.
