Ancestral property time limit

We have filed a OS Suit for ancestral property on behalf of our mother for my mother's grand father property. My mother's father have registered gift deed of total property to one of his daughter, leaving nothing to his rest of daughters including my mother. This property is my mother's grand father's as per records.
Gift deed executed on Dec 07 2006, My mother's father died in 2009. We filed suit in Dec 2018, and registration of case got on Jan 04 2019. Technically it past 12 years with few days if calculated from Gift deed date , but we came to know about gift deed in 2017. So we filed case after few negotiations.
Did we filed case with in time?

Sir, I sought a clarification whether our case comes under limitation time period or not, as we have filed case after 12 years 27 Days from the date of gift deed executed i.e., from Dec 4 2006 to Jan 04 2019 (if considered date of registration) , or filed with in 2 years of our knowledge about the gift deed i.e., from 2017 to Jan 04 2019.

Limitation starts from the date of knowledge to file the suit.
