Asking for documents after retirement

I am a senior citizen retired from service. Few days back I received a letter from the university that I must show evidence that I have worked during the vacation and sabbatical period. University does not maintain attendance record for the teachers; I have been retired for about 2 years now. I have received all my dues from the university. Is it correct for the university to ask for old documents at this stage? I can upload the letter if permitted.

What is the basic issue?

The Univ/College has its own record.

They say "audit objections", please take a look at the attached document...

The letter is not addressed to you.

Do you have the said record and want to reply?

After retirement I have discarded all official papers and I do not have the papers. But my questions are:

1. I have followed all terms and conditions and I have followed the instructions; they would not release any payment unless they were satisfied.

2. Obviously the audit has objected because of other reasons;

3. Other audit parties in other central universities have not raised similar objections;

4. Why I need to suffer for some one else's fault?

Any suggestions?
