I want to know can a man claim for maintanace from his wife if she ask for divorce?   As she earn and own property in her name as all the property and money earned has been purchased or named after her name during their marriage of long 17 years. Please also give some decisions of respected courts in which such decisions has been given i will be thankful to all of u.

A man can claim maintenance from his wife only if the man has NO MEANS of livelihood.

Wife earns and owns property in her name are not sufficient grounds for claiming maintenance from wife.

Even if a wife has property or assets purchased from your own money, the fact that these are in her names won't entitle you to have a share on it, but reverse isn't true

Such is the gender biased law.

you can permanently disable yourself or maim yourself and silently wait in the wings till your wife seeks divorce. She should be then working to maintain you.If she leaves her job in between the divorce and you maiming yourself, you will not get maintenance but lose ONLY your limbs.
