Compensation

hello experts,

I will keep my story in summerized way. I got engaged with a girl but whn i engaged my EX started blackmailing me. and i had to quit my engagment due to her. and my family paid all expenditure of around 8 lakhs to my fiance family as a compensation of what they spent during engagment period. now my EX has dumped me and she has married to someone else, this caused defamtion of me in society so now can i file any suit to get my 8 lakhs rs back which i had to give to my fiance because of her. please suggest.

Do you have irrefutable evidence?

On what counts the Ex could blackmail?

My advice is to simply move on as your ex might retaliate by filing handful of cases over you if you try to initiate legal action over her.

You say your Ex blackmailed you. What was the source of the black mail? Compromising photos or mere threat to reveal that she was her boy friend. How come you and your people paid 8 lakhs because of a mere threat from an ex girl friend.

If you file a defamation suit against your ex. all the above issues shall surely be raked up and you have to prove that you have paid 8 lakhs to the family of another girl with whom you had engagaed for some time.

I agree with Shri Saravanan and it is better to forget and move on
