It is very difficult to run a college as the salaries have to be paid as per UGC norms, rent is very high and education is not a commercial commodity to be sold. Many colleges are not having minimum intake and closed permanently The colleges are being run with great difficulty. Most of the state governments fixed/prescribed maximum such fees and reimbursing them to eligible students and made colleges a viable proposition. In the states where there is no such support, one can resort either to Government colleges or correspondence courses etc.
