claim of maintenance

Respected sir/madam, i have an query regarding the maintenance amount, i had filed divorce petition in march 2016, but i have not claimed for maintenance at that time,but now i want to filed it. I want to know that shall i get maintenance from the date of filing divorce or from the date when i will file maintenance.

Generally maintenance is permitted / granted from the date of application for maintenance, which may be allowed from the date of order passed by the Court.

However, it can not be effective from March 2016 when you have moved / applied for a decree of divorce.

1. IF Divorce proceedings is continuing as of date, THEN you may "TRY" to amend the Divorce Petition for your requirements with proper justifications and convience the Judge.
