Defence witness crossing

In a case of 498a whether PP and Complainent lawyer has right to cross examine the defence witness. If yes to what extent if witness was named in FIR but not chargesheeted. Means whether PP can ask anything or he has right just to cross his examination in chief. Thanks in advance.

The fact that the witness was named in the chargesheet has got nothing to do with barring the right available with the said witness to lead evidence . Pp and complainant may cross examine the said witness based on the prosecution story as well as the defencd theory . Not beyond that
