Yes it follows selective secularism. It subsidizes Haj pilgrims. Pilgrimage of which other community is subsidized? Let us be reasonable. They are poor. We are rich.

Prime Minister of the country shouts from the Red Fort on Independent Day that the minorities have the first choice on country's resources. Which minority sir? Shah Bano case is the glaring example of secularism. Read Article 44 of the Constitution. Throw it into the sea. Sixty years after independence and we are mortally afraid to implement it. Then why have it in the law book. Repeal it saying we are afraid to enact it into law for fear of losing vote bank.

Minister accused in Haj quota allocation racket
Thiruvananthapuram: It's an annual call to millions of the faithful, but for some it's the sound of cold hard cash - travel agents and tour operators who monopolise Haj quotas and extort higher fees from devotees.
Alhind is an agency based in Kerala with more than 30 offices worldwide. Its website boasts of getting the largest Haj allocations.
The Branch Manager of Alhind Travels, Biju Varghese says, "We are the number one Haj and Umra handling agent in India."
They are also the best connected agency and get the largest quotas. More and more irregularities are now coming to the Government's notice and many are calling for a full overhaul of the Haj allocation system.
"We recommend to the honourable Prime Minister to bring reforms in the Haj administration," says Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Rahman Khan.
A look at the figures disclosed in a recent reply to Parliament shows while other Haj operators got an average of 155 passengers, Alhind recieved a whopping 1,700.
Members of Parliament are taking up the issue accused former external affairs minister of State E Ahmed, of close links to Alhind.
"How can ministers allocate Haj tickets? This is pure political interference," says former MP from Malapuram, TK Hamsa.
Now in the Railway Ministry, E Ahamed is the MP from Malappuram elected six times in a row. President of Indian Union Muslim League, and part of the UPA, he is influential in Kerala and Delhi - influence he is now accused of misusing.
Rashtriya Lok Dal Harit Pradesh President, Mairajuddin Ahmed says, "A delegation of private tour operators met me and they gave me a memorandum on how this Alhind tour operator is getting more than its share of Haj allotments."
Former MP from Kannur, Abdullah Kutty adds, "Some travel agents only see commercial interest. This is the basic issue. I do believe there should be an enquiry."
When asked about the charges of favoring specific Haj tour operators in Kerala, E Ahamed called it political vendetta.
"When the Government decides this quota to be given to someone, that is the Government's prerogative. There is nothing more to it," he says.
But it isn't just the quotas though, Alhind charges much more for its Haj package.
"Our package costs Rs 2.10 lakh. This year the Government's package costs Rs 1.33 lakh," says Biju Varghese.

India skipper, in a development which can potentially add to the lustre of Congress' new Muslim mascot. ( Watch Video )
The fresh bid to extricate the Moradabad MP from disgrace comes from a Congress eager to pitchfork the ex-cricketer as a key campaigner, having launched him politically with a massive win from the minority-dominated Moradabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh. The move is being facilitated by the dual roles of UPA members as politicians and cricket managers.
Hectic lobbying in this direction took a Congress delegation led by AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh - that included Congress MP and BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla - to NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Friday. Pawar, who is ICC vice-chairman, directed the delegation to BCCI chief and close associate Shashank Manohar who has succeeded Pawar in BCCI. Rajiv Shukla told TOI, "I spoke to the BCCI president. He said if Azhar files a petition, it would be taken up in the next AGM."
There is an all-round eagerness to bail out Azhar, be it the player himself or his political home or even the present cricketing setup. It was under Pawar's helmsmanship that the hallowed doors of the cricketing world were opened for him in 2006 after they were slammed in 2000, with the Punjab Cricket Association inviting him to witness the Champions Trophy semifinals in Mohali.
Congress's eagerness to lift the lifetime ban on Azhar stems from its strategy to unveil him as the new Muslim mascot. Its revival plans in UP require glamorous minority faces to take on "secular rivals" SP and BSP even though the party's own secular credentials and the leadership of the Gandhi family scion seems persuasive enough to woo the community.
The recent party win in Firozabad bypolls where it trounced Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law has been attributed to largescale shift in Muslim votes from SP. Alive to the threat posed by shifting minorities and a resurgent Congress, SP was quick to act, snapping its relationship with once Hindutva mascot Kalyan Singh and raising the pitch on minority agenda.
For Congress, planning to use the favourable mood to rejuvenate itself in the fallen fort of UP, SP's vulnerability has heightened expectations. The unveiling of the onetime cricketing idol in identity politics seems an intoxicating prospect for strategists. It's not a coincidence that rival SP too brought in this week its Maharashtra legislator Abu Azmi as the new minority face to cash in on his "defiance" of Sena outfits. Azmi fills the void left by Azam Khan's expulsion following his high-voltage rebellion.
Congressmen feel the Hyderabadi's election victory in far-removed Moradabad has proved his appeal among the community.
While the ban is seen as academic in nature given that Azhar is past the age to make a comeback, it would still come in handy in buffering him from a future assault on the issue of "integrity". On the poll trail, the opposition targeted him for match-fixing, citing his excommunication from cricket, to question Congress's commitment to probity. The question of ban keeps popping up every time Azhar is mentioned in social circles. It is hoped that he would be free from embarrassing queries once BCCI overturns its order.
Digvijay Singh said, "We want the lifetime ban to go from the man who brought laurels to the country with his skills. There were many players in the match-fixing case but they are all free of the ban. Why should the one on Azhar continue?"

We are the new face of India. We shall overcome. We shall succeed. We shall change the system. There is no use criticising Netas and Babus. They are one of us. We elect them. We are responsible equally.
Dehu Road resident procures card for Rs 2,000 from Nigdi rationing office; officials call it fake but probe is ordered If you are in Pune, you can apaprently get a ration card issued even in the name of the Chief Minister and his family members. Sanjay Jayram Dhutadmal, a resident of Dehu Road, is the “proud owner” of one such ration card purportedly issued by the rationing office at Nigdi, last month. Dhutadmal claims that he procured the ration card in the name of the chief minister by paying Rs 2,000 and without any hassles. Officials at the rationing office in Nigdi however say they never issued the ration card and it was not genuine. While Dhutadmal and the officials trade charges, one thing is certain, the divisional commissionerate here has swung into action: to find out whether a bogus ration card racket flourishes in the city.

This is the story of Rajya Sabha and Supreme Court:
Impeachment motion against judge delayed
Dhananjay Mahapatra | TNN
New Delhi: The impeachment motion against Justice Soumitra Sen, pending in the Rajya Sabha for nine months, will be further delayed as the panel appointed by chairperson Hamid Ansari to inquire into the charges against the Calcutta high court judge is short of a member it is mandated to have.
The panel headed by Justice B Sudershan Reddy, a judge of the Supreme Court, has not been able to proceed with the work since its member, Justice T S Thakur, was elevated to the SC. Justice Thakur was included in the panel as the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana HC. The other member of the panel is the noted jurist, Fali S Nariman. So, till the Rajya Sabha chairperson requests CJI K G Balakrishnan for a fresh nomination from among the Chief Justices of the HCs, gets it and appoints the nominated CJ as member of the inquiry panel, the work will continue to remain at a stand still.
Sources close to the panel said the preliminary work has been completed and that once a new member is appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the elevation of Justice Thakur, it would take three more months to complete the process of inquiry and send a report to the Rajya Sabha chairperson.
The panel appears to have run into rough weather from time to time delaying the completion of the inquiry. It’s only when the panel makes the determination that there is a fit case for the removal of the judge, that the impeachment motion would be put to debate in the House where the judge either personally or through a lawyer can defend himself.
The panel headed by Supreme Court judge, Justice D K Jain, was set up on March 20. But on June 10, Justice Jain quit the panel citing personal reasons. It took another 15 days for the Vice-President and the CJI to appoint Justice Reddy as the head of the panel.
Now that the panel has completed the preliminary work, another vacancy has arisen and it has to await a new appointment.

IMPEACHMENT OF A JUDGE? Let us disabuse our mind. Constitution provides for impeachment of President ONLY.
Judges of HC/SC can be removed by following the procedure laid down in Art,.124(4). We have started calling it impeachment. It is not so.
