1) Private Limited Company

2) Limited Limited Partnership Company

3) Partnership Deed (Partnership Agreement)

Further to Mr. Nagaraja'a options for starting a business above kindly note that there is a new form of business entity know as Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) which maybe also formed. This has the benefits of limiting liability while the simple procedure of setting up and maintaining as usually found in a partnership.

A partnership need not be registered as per provisions of Indian Partnership Act,1932.However, If it is not registered,it has no legal right to sue anyone.

You need to get an agreement of Partnership executed by Partners in order to get it registered.Then contact your local registrar of companies office for further formalities.
