physical cruelty should be reported within 1 year to police

the evidences has to be in place before that, as sometimes the injuries heal by that time.

ideally, whenever there is a physical assault, then one has to to go to hospital to get it treated and have the doctors report, police station to register a case, neighbour as witnesses of the incidents etc, these become powerful evidences.

If the wife is complaining about the physical cruelty by her husband or his relatives, it is she who has to prove the same by whatever means she is supposed to prove the police to their satisfaction about it.  For physical cruelty, if injured by anv assault, she has to prove that medically with the treatment particulars.  I don't think anyone can prove an injury that was inflicted on her a year back.  Also the more she delays, the more the complain will stand rejected or weakened.
